Si, sensorics of sensations (sense of comfort)

Keywords: health, comfort, convenience, pleasure, rest, relaxation, peace, balance, everyday life, the present, homeostasis

Definition:
Si (in general): Maintaining an already realized line of events - restoring balanced metabolism, homeostasis
Base Si: Focus on the present moment and avoidance of unpleasant thoughts and sensations, restoration of health through rest
Creative Si: Routine care for maintaining environmental balance, health, and grooming of oneself and one’s close circle

Typical trait components of Si:
Si + Sensorics = Good coordination of body movements in space, good sense of one's body and nearby surroundings, ability to avoid injuries and illnesses
Si + Peripheral = Prefers gradual creation rather than abrupt destruction (gatherer-farmer by nature rather than hunter-warrior)
Si + Introversion = Understanding the limits of one’s energy, avoidance of energy-consuming tasks
Si + Irrationality = Does not plan for the future
Si + Dynamics = Dependence on comfort, unwillingness to do anything that threatens the loss of comfort

Atypical trait components of Si:
Si + Intuition = Reluctance to change the sensory world through one's labor (due to a lack of desire to exert oneself)
Si + Central = Indifferent to fundamental knowledge and its transmission to others; selfishly prefers personal comfort over improving the world on a global scale
Si + Extroversion = Sense of kinship with people, hospitality, generosity
Si + Rationality = Good self-control in terms of not causing harm; prefers to heal rather than watch something slowly deteriorate
Si + Statics = Not inclined to savor feelings of weakness, pain, and humiliation

Typical manifestations of combining Si with other functions:
Sum of two functions:
Si + Ne = Lives by simple joys, not planning ahead and rejoicing in random discoveries (SEI+SLI+ILE+IEE)
Si + Se = Unwillingness to postpone pleasures (SEI+SLI+SLE+SEE)
Si + Ni = Relaxation, love of idleness (SEI+SLI+IEI+ILI)
Si + Ti = Desire for self-sufficiency and working alone at one's own pace
Si + Fi = Unwillingness to be an outcast, willingness to yield to avoid discord and conflict
Si + Te = Ability to assess the quality of physical materials one works with
Si + Fe = Ability to evaluate one's own and others' comfort and pleasure/displeasure from consuming something
Si + Qi = Avoidance of pain and discomfort, rejection of violence in any form
Si + Di = Intellectual unambitiousness, slow pace of thought and speech, does not think about the complex or the future
Si + Qe = Avoids emphasizing the most probable, prefers to insure against everything little by little
Si + De = Likes to do household chores - cooking, cleaning, caring for loved ones

Sum of three functions:
Si + Ti + Qi = Simple-mindedness, avoids intrigues and social squabbles, lives by constructive labor, “good fellow” type
Si + Ti + Di = Love of monotony, healthy conservatism of habits, phlegmatic character, old-timer type (everyone left but he stayed)
Si + Fi + Qi = Dislike of competition, avoidance of the tension and stress associated with it, the type most inclined to love and care for the weakest
Si + Fi + Di = Modesty of ambitions, preference for small and achievable goals, “little man” type, conformist
Si + Fe + Qe = Demanding about comfort, inclined to savor nuances, connoisseur/kept woman type
Si + Fe + De = Likes to care for oneself and loved ones, engage in beauty and health, cook/cosmetologist/pediatrician type
Si + Te + Qe = Avoids everything uncomfortable and potentially traumatic, threatening to health and safety; strives for a prosperous personal household, "wealthy peasant" type
Si + Te + De = Strives for well-being, loves creating a comfortable and ergonomic environment with their craftsmanship, designer/craftsman with “golden hands” type

Functional Difference:
Si - Ne = Groundedness of life goals, tied to everyday life (SEI+SLI+LSI+ESI)
Si - Se = Conflict-avoidance (SEI+SLI+LII+EII)
Si - Ni = Enjoys balanced, calm, and predictable situations rather than crisis or risky ones (SEI+SLI+ESE+LSE)
Si - Ti = Willing to flatter anyone for a pleasant and easy life if they have the necessary resources
Si - Fi = Ready to idle and indulge in pleasures while everyone else works
Si - Te = Slowness, smoothness of movements; likes a measured life - “and let the whole world wait” (SEI-LIE)
Si - Fe = Inner calmness regardless of what’s happening around (SLI-EIE)
Si - Qi = Caring for loved ones, forgets about oneself, “dissolving” in other people
Si - Di = Care for personal comfort above all, will not work through force and fatigue
Si - Qe = Unambitiousness, lack of pride, “simple man” type (SEI-EIE)
Si - De = Weakness of motivations, indifference to the future (SLI-LIE)

========
Conclusions:
The meaning of Si is calming, normalizing the course of events, channeling them into one predictable track within which all processes become cyclical, thereby causing time to lose its forward linearity. The main way to achieve this is to balance the exchange of resources with the surrounding environment, close all existing trophic chains in which the subject is embedded (independently or, more often, in symbiosis with someone), and create around oneself a zone of comfort (minimal energy expenditure) that no longer makes sense to leave.

Extraverted (creative) Si brings the household entrusted to the subject into a state of optimal resource sufficiency and maintains this state through regular work, thereby routinizing all processes and reducing the likelihood of crisis changes to a minimum.
Introverted (base) Si, on the other hand, avoids thinking and planning ahead altogether, thereby avoiding temptations to change anything and not even attempting to leave the already established comfort zone.

Thus, the active role of the Si is the creation of resource homeostasis and thereby the reduction of directional selection pressure on the population, while its passive role is the maintenance (non-disruption) of the already existing homeostasis with minimal effort, which gives an advantage over more energy-expensive competitors in the absence of directional selection.
Summarizing all of the above, the author concludes that the Si function, from a biosocial point of view, can be defined as a complex of individual traits evolutionarily linked with WEAK DIRECTIONAL SELECTION in the population.
