Semantic Content of Qi

Introverted (white) questimity. This is a narrow psychological range of equivalence in its introverted variant. Protection from numerous subjectively irritating aspects of society and its pressure on the self, carried out by, first, self-isolation and emphasizing one’s independence, and second, by demanding the minimization of social pressure on the individual, adherence to clear rules, and equal justice for all.

Thus, Qi seeks protection from irritating factors in a societal model with predominantly horizontal connections. In neurophysiological terms, Qi shows a strong positive correlation with the function of the anterior frontal areas of the right-hemispheric cortex (perceiving flaws), a negative correlation with the function of the anterior frontal areas of the left-hemispheric cortex (whose activity is associated with ignoring flaws), and a strong negative correlation with the function of the posterior (temporal and parietal) areas of the left-hemispheric cortex. In particular, the function of analyzing spatial-logical relations associated with the temporoparietal region of the left hemisphere suffers in Qi. Specifically, Qi gives negative responses to all questions related to rapid mental analysis of such spatial-logical relationships (like: “I immediately understand who’s being talked about when someone mentions the son of a brother or the brother of a son, etc.”).

On a purely physiological level – Qi is characterized by low thresholds for stress reactions (hence the introverted irritability), which is accompanied by increased cortisol release, which in turn objectively leads to lower average immunity over time.

Part 2: Positive markers of Qi

The following list of questionnaire items consists of questions that, among all 12 socionic functions, show exclusively high absolute correlation specifically with Qi. After each question, two numbers are provided. The first indicates the linear correlation coefficient of respondents' answers to this question with the value of their Qi. The second number is a special indicator of the exclusivity of this question for the Qi scale. It equals the previous correlation coefficient multiplied by the share of Qi variance in the total variance associated with responses to this question across all 12 socionic functions.
